Some cameras from my collection

I started collecting cameras a long time ago. I don’t have a particular theme – it’s more about what I find interesting at the time. I went through a phase of wanting to collect miniature cameras – so I got a Minox, a Mamiya 16, a Minox 35, its Ukranian copy, the Kiev, and a Minolta 16. A few years later I became fascinated with Soviet cameras, so I got the Fed and a Mir. The Nikon Super 8 Zoom movie camera has a ton of sentimental value, because a friend of the family gave it to me when I was in film school, and he passed of cancer not long after. He was a really great man and I still think about him often.

I think a common theme with many of the things I like to collect is – how uncommon they are? Do they represent different industrial cultures, design decisions that didn’t pan out?

There’s a few more in storage I need to rescue. I plan on documenting them all here, and eventually sharing some of the photos they take.
